"The Flak Gun is similar to the Anti-Aircraft Turret, but it has a stronger emphasis on dealing splash damage with each of its attacks. Its accuracy is a nightmare for pilots."
The Anti-Aircraft Flak Gun is the premium version of the Anti-Aircraft Turret, costing 40 and was available only for a limited time through the Vehicle Factory on the weekend of August 16th, 2013. The mission "Give Them Some Flak" allowed the players to test these guns (albeit at Rank 6 equivalent) against some enemy formations that included high-ranked air units.
This unit's sole purpose is to take out opposing air units, as its attacks are completely useless against non-air units. It's Targeted Attack can deal massive damage to a single air unit, potentially knocking even the strongest air units out of the sky in a single volley with critical hits.
The Fully Automatic mode is less reliable in terms of damage due to its slightly random targeting of its two shots. It relies on air units being on the same row and even then, it will pepper and soften up multiple air units. This attack mode is best used when no other attacks are available or when there are heavily damaged air units with slivers of health remaining.
The first time purchase of the AA Flak Gun will "pre-rank" the unit, based on the player's current level, so a level 51+ player buying this unit for the first time will have Rank 6 AA Flak Guns.
Compared to the regular Anti-Aircraft Turret, the AA Flak Gun boasts slightly better overall defensive stats, but what really makes the AA Flak Gun stand out is its much higher damage and Armor, where the AA Turret has none.
This unit was brought back as the Secret Vaults' jackpot for players at levels 10 through 19, though the percentage of getting one may not appeal to people who want it but missed the weekend event.
How the hell do the rebels have planes? Why couldn't they have something less likely to blow our entire base apart? Has anyone found a solution yet?
The Imperial Training Manual wants us to hurl ourselves out of catapults, but everyone else is scared to try it.
I've sketched out several plans to create high-powered turbines to direct wind flow outwards and slow the planes down, but I've determined we need to move our base onto a small peninsula beforehand.
…I think I'm relying on Zoey for this one.
I've already been creatin' prototypes. Wanna see?
How about you test them on the planes heading over here right now?
Finish mission
Success! What do you think, L.T?
Excellent work! I knew someone here wouldn't let me down. Perkins, you get ten demerits for being useless.
