The Mortar Truck is another take on artillery, and is functionally similar to the Mortar Team. The main differences being that the Mortar Truck deals more damage, has more HP and also has a surprisingly large reservoir of ammunition.
The Heavy Mortar weapon of the truck deals 100% damage in the target square, and 25% damage (rounded up) in the four adjacent squares. These values are modified further by the target's resistance to -type damage, rank of the enemy unit, randomness and whether the shot is critical or not.
This unit is also stronger than the Light Artillery, dealing more damage and having more HP. However, the Light Artillery has a greater range.
This unit is inferior to the renowned Heavy Artillery, in both range and damage. However, the truck is a vehicle, giving it some better defensive capabilities. It also doesn't cost Nanopods, making mass production much easier than Heavy Artillery. Furthermore, the Mortar Truck has another big advantage: the ammo. It has a capacity of 8, so it rarely has to reload.
People that rank up the Mortar Truck will unlock a new attack at Rank 3: High Explosive Shell. This attack has a higher damage than the normal attack exceeding the Heavy Artillery when it is unlocked, with the downside that cooldown is increased to three turns. However, unlike most artillery units, all adjacent areas have 1/2 splash damage rather than 1/4 splash damage.
It is recommended that players join a guild and earn some skulls through boss strike as a quick way to earn the Allied Raider Cannoneer which has as much health at rank 1 as a rank 6 Mortar Truck and the Allied Cannoneer will do more damage at rank 1 than a rank 6 Mortar Truck. Also the Allied Cannoneer has a cheaper training and healing cost.
