Overview[]
The Railgun Trooper was a limited time, promotional unit costing 90 and was introduced during the weekend of June 28th, 2013. This unit was available for players who were levels 50 and above, trained in the Barracks (level 1). This premium unit should not be confused with the Railgun Tech that is available through the Prestigious Academy.
The Railgun Trooper starts out at rank one with 210 and a single, powerful weapon and attack - EPR18: High Velocity Flechette. This attack completely ignores armor, ignores blocking units, will strike an entire column and can be fired from any row.
The railgun has a good chance to do critical damage as well, capable of doing up to 480 damage to most units at rank 1. The weapon does have a 2-round prep time before it can be used, and a 3-round "cooldown" between shots (limited by its one ammo reload, not its actual cooldown).
While the Railgun Trooper's excellent damage would do well in battles against the buffed up raiders, namely the Total War Mammoth, Big Bada Boom, Brutal Bombadier and the Brutal Brawler, players should be wary that while the railgun is being charged, the four aforementioned units can still possibly take out the Railgun Trooper before the railgun can be fired.
Compared to the Railgun Tech, the Railgun Trooper is better because of the unit's ability to target any column, despite its 1 extra round of cooldown/reload between attacks. Unfortunately it is pricey given its nanopods cost, and also, the unit is no longer available.
